CLEAN UP CAMPAIGN
A FOURTH emergency service is hitting the streets and parks in a clean-up operation that’s getting results.

And it’s not only dog owners in Longdendale and Hattersley that Tameside Patrollers are gunning for.

Litter louts are also being handed fixed penalty fines the latest Hattersley and Longdendale District Assembly heard.

While teenagers who cause trouble are also being targeted in a partnership which sees the team working closely with the police.

Patrollers are planning another blitz on people who let dogs foul.

In the next few days patrollers - some in plain clothes - will be looking for law breakers where the problems are most acute.

These include Water Lane Park in Hollingworth and Broadbottom’s quaintly named ‘Gibble Gabble’.

Patroller Richard Bennett told Longdendale and Hattersley District Assembly on Thursday: “These are areas of most concern.”

Early morning raids are likely, but the team could be there at any time.

The DA also discussed the Longdendale bypass.
